Im jsut starting a computer programming class in my college and wondering if anyone has ever used these or even heard of them. I believe we will be programming in C and C++ also, but i know people have heard of them. Its possible one of the professors at the school wrote these programs, but im not sure, i believe the instructor mentioned something about that yesterday. Basically i was wanting to know if i need help is it worth posting it here

Yeah I've used Cygwin when I needed to install an iPhone toolkit to make iPhone apps in Objective C. Your instructor should help you set it up even though the installation is just click next and that is about it. There are also a lot of tutorials online for it.

Cygwin is a C/C++ port of the Linux Kernel standard API to a library that allows Windows programmers to port apps that run natively on Linux and recompile them to run in a windows environment. That's Cygwin in a nutshell. If you want more info you can go here
